with temperatures reaching 34 and up, try one of these 3 recipes to cool you down without grabbing that fizzy drink

basil lemonade

  • 1 cup fresh basil
  • 4 lemons
  • 3 limes
  • 8 cups ice cold water
  • honey/agave/sugar substitute per taste

easy peasey recipe

  • squeeze the juice from the lemons and limes over a strainer into a cup
  • in the bottom of a tall pitcher, add fresh basils, roughly chopped, slowly mix with sweetener of your choice
  • add the strained juice and stir well to mix everything
  • add the cold water , taste for sweetness and add more if needed.
  • chill before serving.

water melon and mint slush

ingredients

  • 4 cups seedless chopped watermelon
  • 2 lemons
  • 1 lime
  • 1 cup chopped mint
  • 8 cups ice
  • honey/agave/sugar substitute per taste

  • squeeze the juice from the lemons and limes over a strainer into a cup
  • in a blender, puree all the ingredients with ice
  • pour in a tall glass and enjoy!

iced ginger green tea

ingredients

  • 1 knob of ginger (thumb size) peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 6 green tea bags
  • ½ cup honey or sweetener of your choice
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • in a large pot over high heat, combine the ginger and 6 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  • remove from heat and add the mint, tea bags, lemon juice and honey.
  • cover and let steep for 15 minutes.
  • strain the liquid into a large pitcher
  • chill before serving
